Summer housing

In late March/early April an inquiry about summer housing needs will be sent to the tenants. A room can be kept over the summer on half rent which means that you can leave your things in your room and return the key to the caretaker. The other choice is to empty out and clean your room and pay no rent. The rental payment is calculated from the time that equals to full months.

Rules of order

Living in the student housing is the same as living in a normal rental apartment. The tenants are expected to live according to the normal set of rules, regulations and laws. This set of rules is created to uphold the comfort of the residents. For the comfort and safety of all residents we request that these rules are followed.
1. Cleanliness and order: For the common comfort and the maintenance of the property spaces we wish that the common spaces and the yard are kept clean.

The property assets and structures are not to be damaged in any way. The indoors of your own apartment is also to be kept tidy and unharmed.

Garbage and other waste materials which can clog up the pipes are not to be dumped in the toilet or other drains.

The caretaker or caretaker in charge must be informed if something in the apartment is broken. Tenant / tenants will be billed if a tenant / tenants / guests cause damage to the property assets. Tenants are always responsible for the actions of their guests.

We recommend a home insurance for the tenants because the property insurance does not compensate for residents’ personal property, for example in a case of a pipeline break.

2. Behavior: Do not disturb other residents with your behavior. The silence is active 23.00-07.00. Having outside guests overnight in the apartments is prohibited.
3. Drugs: The dormitory is a so-called drug-free area. All suspicions of drug possessions will be reported to the police.

4. Alcohol: Drinking alcohol on the property (yard) and public areas is prohibited.

5. Smoking: Smoking in the apartments and public areas is prohibited. Only smoke outdoors.

6. Open fire: For fire safety any open fire, candles included, are prohibited.

7. Subtenants: The apartments are meant those who have made a rental agreement for the apartment. Having subtenants is prohibited.

8. Vehicles: Cars, mopeds and scooters can be parked on the parking lot. Contact maintenance if you need a parking space with a socket post.

9. Recycling waste: All waste is to be taken to the garbage bins. This reduces the chance of drawing pests to the apartments and birds can’t spread waste all over the yard. Waste must always be sorted accordingly.
Breaking the rules repeatedly can lead to the tenant getting a written warning and the rental agreement can be terminated without notice. Remember that the rental payment is on the 5 of every month. Eviction measures will be taken if the payment is failed until the amount is same as three months’ worth of rent. Eviction can only be prevented by paying the entire amount at once. The normal notice is one month from the last day of the month of resignation.

Porvoo

Porvoo was founded in 1346 and it is the second oldest city in Finland. The history can almost be felt in the winding streets and the wonderful little boutiques of the Old Porvoo. The riverbank with the barns next to the Old Porvoo is also a very important part of Porvoo`s landscape and atmosphere. Back in the day, the riverside used to be a great marketplace. Today many restaurants are located in the vicinity of the river and during summer it is a very popular meeting place.

A lot of useful information about Porvoo can be found from the own web page of Porvoo city: https://www.visitporvoo.fi/
